iLearners Inc. is a non-profit organization that aims to eliminate rural illiteracy with its tailored fit programs to address the main problems that are faced by the charitable group’s recipient schools. During the early beginnings of this organization (founded in December 9, 2007) up to the present, iLearners have served number of schools in some parts of Cebu.

Celebrating its 10th year of reaching out to pupils who are challenged by poverty and illiteracy, iLearners Inc. launched the iLibrary at Montebello VillaHotel  – a multimedia library which incorporate books with other tools for learning that are beneficial to a pupil’s learning in the digital age.

The iLibrary will consist of three book shelves of paper books, an art section, two units of computer, an AV (audio-visual) set and a music station. The first beneficiaries who can benefit from the iLibrary multimedia library includes Lunas, Kaluangan II and Caohagan Elementary Schools, situated in Carcar, Asturias and Caohagan Island Mactan respectively.

Doyzkie Buenaviaje, iLearner’s President and Founder believes that the iLibrary will surely boost the students’ interest to learn and arouse creativity. He also added that he is excited for the completion of the first multimedia library to be installed in Lunas Elementary School before the year ends.

Luis Martin Alvarez, General Manager of Montebello VillaHotel also believes in  iLearner’s advocacy which aims to eradicate illiteracy especially in the grassroots level. Supporting iLearners means supporting literacy since they do not give something that only lasts for a day or two. Rather, it is one of the most basic needs – education. Alvarez also added that through education, the youth learns the basic skills needed to survive as adults in the new world. Thus molds them to become a successful individual in the future – who knows we’ve inspired the next Steve Jobs.

iLearner’s advocacy is a world-changer. The use of music in the academe is really beneficial as we all know that music has the proven academic, social, and personal benefit that the students and the youth from rural areas in general can have. Exposing the students from rural areas with music would actually make a difference to unleash their unique skills and talents that would help them make a profound change in the future.
